Erik H. Monson

Erik Monson is a Partner at Gaynor Law Group, LLC.  His practice is exclusively civil litigation with a focus on medical and dental malpractice, professional liability defense and the defense of professionals before licensing boards.  Erik brings a diversity of practice to Gaynor Law Group that includes products liability, legal malpractice, business disputes and insurance defense. 

Erik is a trial lawyer and has tried cases to juries throughout Wisconsin.  He joined the firm in 2026 after being a Shareholder at a Madison litigation firm for over 15 years and an Associate for 6 years. 

Before going into civil practice, Erik represented the people of the state of Wisconsin as an Assistant District Attorney.  During his 7-year tenure in Kenosha County, Erik was assigned to the narcotics unit, sensitive crimes team and tried a variety of cases ranging from white collar crime to homicide.  

Erik has a statewide practice.  He splits his professional time between the firm’s Milwaukee and Madison offices.  Erik lives in Madison with his wife, Mandy and their two children. 

Erik received his law degree from The Ohio State University in 1998, and his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee in 1995.   

Erik grew up in Racine.  Despite attending “The” Ohio State University, he loves all things Wisconsin, particularly the Packers and Brewers.
