Prior to becoming Gaynor Law Group, LLC, Attorneys Sean M. Gaynor, Douglas S. Knott, and Samuel J. Leib formed Leib Knott Gaynor, LLC in 2016, which became one of Wisconsin’s premier healthcare defense litigation law firms. Attorneys Leib, Knott, and Gaynor had worked together since 2005 and collectively tried over 200 cases to verdict during their tenure together. Attorney Leib, who has practiced for close to fifty-years, is one of Wisconsin’s most distinguished trial lawyers, having tried cases on behalf of every medical specialty throughout the entire State of Wisconsin, the Midwest, and even as far as Nevada and California. Attorney Knott practiced for close to thirty-five years and began his career with the State of Iowa Attorney General’s Office. He would later transition into the healthcare litigation field and represent clients in all facets of medicine, developing a specialty in correctional medicine and defending Federal 1983 actions. Attorney Sean Gaynor was fortunate enough to be mentored by these two great lawyers for the past twenty-one years while he developed his own practice representing physicians, nurses, hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and medical residency programs. Attorney Gaynor also developed a robust practice representing dental providers, including general dentists, oral surgeons, orthodontists, and prosthodontists. On December 31, 2025, Attorneys Leib and Knott transitioned to “Of-Counsel” roles with the firm. While they are both still involved in litigation and the firm in general, they have earned the well-deserved right to ease their respective practices toward semi-retirement. With their blessing, guidance, and assistance, Leib Knott Gaynor LLC has proudly become Gaynor Law Group, LLC.
